The Lake District

The "Classics" Series

This series of original paintings and short -run Limited Edition Prints are being produced to complement Andy's current major project "The Wainwrights in Colour". As all those sketches are being produced only in original form it is intended that this series will complement the project and show Andy's ability to paint regular mountain landscape watercolours.

" Whilst researching the Wainwrights project I have visited some of The Lake District's most stunning landscapes, sometimes from viewpoints not often frequented by other fell walkers. Even though I was focused on obtaining my references for the project I was always aware of collecting ideas for a series of work such as this. Below you will find a selection of locations which will make up this series. I will endeavour to show not only the completed work but also some of my reference photographs and sketches that have helped to produce the finished piece."

"I have entitled this the "Classics" series due to the subject matter and not a statement about my paintings. It is intended that this collection will be of about 12 paintings, but it is difficult to capture the essence of such a wonderful area in such a limited number. I have added some of my thoughts as to why each subject should be included and I'm always happy to hear other people's ideas."
