11th August 2008- A "Tourist" day in the Lakes.
Originally planned as a day out with my brother to the Lowther Country Fair, our itinerary was changed due to the cancellation of the show due to bad weather. Instead we had a tour round. The weather was at times horrendous with very heavy rain and low cloud only giving way occasionally to brighter spells.

After a wet and misty drive over Kirkstone Pass we had a walk around Bowness and came across this new shop. |

Esther cast her eye over the excellent range of goods in Love the Lakes.

Esther has been tempted to spend.

Langdale Pikes across Windermere.

After lunch at the Britannia in Elterwater we took the dogs for a short walk. The water on the road gives an idea of the conditions.

The Pikes with a patch of sun. Note the water in Stickle Ghyll.

The Oaks en-route to Grasmere. The day was totally different to my normal walking outings but we did manage to salvage something from such a poor day.
