21st. May 2009 Scales Tarn

Our third walk of the day would take us up to Scales Tarn from Scales itself. Another walk without a summit but purely to obtain photographic references for the project.

The climb up to Mousthwaite Col from Scales.

Great Dodd and Clough Head to the south.

Scales Tarn with Sharp Edge. From here we had to cut down to the river Glenderamackin and its mines.

 

The first falls of the river. now all we had to do was re-cross the river and ascent the hillside to get back onto the path on which we approached the tarn.

 

Great Mell Fell in shadow as we start to descend to Scales.
