From the path to Hartsop
Hall the recent work can be seen that has repaired the banks of the
Goldrill Beck

Gray Crag across the
valley.

Sunshine on Brock Crags

Angletarn Pikes.

Signs of Autumn.

High Hartsop Dodd from
Hartsop Beck.

The purpose for this
short walk was to obtain the references from the previous viewpoint and
from here. Unfortunately the birch trees in the foreground obscure the
required scene so a re-visit will be done in winter when hopefully the
trees will have shed their leaves and opened up the view. The large Oak on
the left is just as AW drew it, just bigger.
From here I returned to
the car and drove up to the Dockray Road, parked at the old quarry and
headed off to Gowbarrow Fell.

Passing this sign we dropped down to the
river gorge.

Previously I had obtained a reference
from this point of High Force but had not been sure that it was correct.

By going downstream, crossing the river
and returning to the point on the other bank I could see that this was the
correct location. from here I continued on the Dockray footpath.

Great Dodd from the Dockray path.

Ullswater from the ascent. The route I
was taking was up alongside the wall that runs to the north of the summit,
not a AW route but obviously now well used.

Footpath repairs have had to be
undertaken over the boogy section of this route.

Gowbarrow Fell summit and Great Mell
Fell.

Zeta in the heather as we head away from
the summit (up on the left) towards Green Hill.

Ullswater from Green Hill.

Posers!

Aira Force.
Once we had paid the customary visit to
the Force we headed back upstream to the car park. it was not a bad way to
give the dogs a walk, shame the weather wasn't brighter but at least
Bailey got to tick of another Wainwright!
