A murky day, looking
towards Windermere.

Patches of sun over High
Pike and Low Pike.

Last time I was here I was looking for the
aqueduct stone, I was asked via email of its location in comparison to the
path so here it is, just at the foot of the crag as seen from the
footpath. The sketch of the aqueduct stone is now online,

The summit cairn of Nab
Scar, often bypassed by walkers as it lies a few metres off the path.

The route ahead to Heron
Pike.

Heavy rain showers over
Windermere.

Sunny patches to the
north in Easedale.

Heron Pike summit with
Great Rigg just clear of cloud.

Under the cloud base.

Looking up to Rydal Head.

I descended down this
scree slope into Blind Cove.

What I call a "Wainwright
stone", sit here and you will be at one of my "Wainwright" locations.

Rydal Head, my route was
to follow the wall up to Black Crag.

Behind, there was some
interesting light before the next rain shower.

Black Crag.

A very unusual sheep fold
on its own island in the valley.

Another unusual feature
is this wall gap across the beck.

The beck has to
circumnavigate this outcrop of rocks.

Zeta shows how wet we
both were.

Back in Rydal, St Mary's
church.
I had a bit of time so I
headed to Clappersgate to get a short walk up on to Loughrigg Fell.

Rain coming from the
Coniston Fells.

Tod Crag, my target for
the afternoon.

Even on such a miserable
day its still a good view down on Windermere.

Once again a rescue Sea
King heads to the south, another call-out?

Wetherlam as I head back
to the car.
Another couple of short
walks to get references. Hardly the most exciting adventures but still
good to be out on the fells. |
