10th November 2008 . Buckbarrow round to Middle Fell.

Making the most of the predicted forecast we planned a longer day that would take in five fells in the Wasdale region. We parked up at Greendale near to the south western end of Wast Water.

Buckbarrow from Greendale.

We took the path up the fell from near Harrow Head. The sun was trying to make a break-through over Whin Rigg across the valley.

The perched and split boulder near Buckbarrow summit.

Snow topped Scafells.

Glade How cairn and our route to Seatallan.

Cat Bields across to Scafells.

A patch of light in front of Great Gable.

Rain in the west from Seatallan summit.

Yewbarrow in profile.

Layers of hills, Kirk Fells slopes have the sun.

Haycock from Whinscale How. Our route was to bypass this fell to the left and get on to Caw Fell ridge.

An old shelter on the slopes of Haycock looking back to Seatallan.

Nearing the Caw Fell ridge. Before we reached the ridge we were completely engulfed in thick low cloud.

Caw Fell summit cairn. The low cloud and very windy conditions easily took the wind chill down below freezing.

and then there was sun..... Looking back to Caw Fell summit from near Little Gowder Crag. A fine example of how the weather can change quickly on the fells. The hut is there for a walling team who are in process of repairing the wall to make it stock proof.

Haycock summit towards Steeple and Scoat Fell.

We were heading down from Haycock towards Middle Fell, seen here sunlit in the centre. Seatallan is the fell on the right.

Approaching Middle Fell, soon to be shrouded in cloud.

A wild and windy Middle Fell top.

Fading light over Greenburn Tarn as we descend back to Greendale.
