12th November 2009 Raven Crag

The forecast for this morning wasn't as good as other days this week so I opted to visit Raven Crag which is close to the dam of Thirlmere.

As I headed down St John's in the Vale the sun on Blencathra behind me looked promising.

Raven Crag from the Thirlmere dam.

Autumn colours. It was actually raining now but I was sheltered by the trees.

In the dull, dark wood.

Follow the path into the dark wood.

The boggy path to the summit.

The summit rock. The painting that I have completed of this summit can be viewed here.

Thirlmere through a veil for drizzle.

Aerial view of the dam.

Heading back out of the woods to descend back to the car.

Back at the recently re-furbished car park near the dam.

Not such good weather as other days but still another enjoyable leg stretch.
