The old church in Martindale near where I parked.

From the lower slopes of Beda Fell looking back towards
Hallin Fell.

From the ridge Ullswater comes into view.

With St. Sunday Crag in the murky distance this
ex-grouse butt made a perfect shelter for lunch.

Beda Fell summit.

Heavy skies over Angletarn Pikes ahead.

Approaching the southern summit of Angletarn Pikes. With
A.W's "extensive peat bog in a depression".

Place Fell from the northern summit of the Pikes.

Outward Bound students on the south summit.

Wansfell Pike through Kirkstone Pass.

Angle Tarn and the ridge to Brock crags with Gray crag
beyond.

A very wet pair.

Sheltering from rain and hail on the summit of Brock
Crags. Sunshine down in Patterdale.

The summit of Brock Crags.

The rain clears to give a better view of Patterdale.

Racing sunshine on Brotherswater.

Buck Crag from Satura Crag.

Rest Dodd summit looking north towards The Nab.

Zeta playing hide and seek. The Nab behind, the only
"official" route on and off being along the ridge. The path can just be
seen over the top of the stone in the foreground. A route for me another
day.

Unusually for me, my route today was to retrace my path.
Heading back to Satura Crag High Street is shrouded in dark cloud.

Angle Tarn, the increased wind rippling the water.

Looking back to Angletarn Pikes. The "arty" diffused
effect has more to do with heavy rain than some special camera filter.

heading down the Martindale/ Patterdale path I was able
to get this shot of Heck Crag which I needed.

As often seems to happen a short period of strong light
ended the day. Here at Dalehead farm everything was just right, the sheep,
the barn, the tree and the hill. Shame about the clarity. (by this time I
had nothing dry left to wipe the lens!)
Not a "Classic" day out but still a good day on the
hills. |
