A beautiful evening in prospect as we start our walk at
6.45

Carling Gill Bridge

We left the road at this old marker stone (history unknown)

We followed the gill up into the valley, crossing the
beck on many occasions fortunately the water levels were low.

Small Gill.

Soon we came across this notice. Our planned route was
under restrictions due to breeding raptors so we had to make alternative
arrangements.

Zeta cools of in the gill below us.

The narrow path above the gill as we approach the scar
of Black Force.

Black Force Gill. Our planned route would have been up
the steep arete on the left. Instead we carried on up the main gill route.

Soon the gorge narrows.

Rising up through the gill there is an impressive view
back to Black Force Scar.

Reflected light in the beck.

Carling Gill Spout, not in full flow due to the dry
weather.

A clump of Dog Violets.

Scrambling up the steep slope gives a good view of the
force.

Now above the spout looking back down the valley.

Our amended route took us up Ulgill Rigg with the valley
of Ulgill Beck below us to the left..

Behind us the evening light picks up the details for the
landscape.

Below lies Carling Gill.

Now heading to Linghaw our route we have just covered on
Ulgill Rigg can be seen.

Bailey glows

Fromm the slopes of Blake Ridge there is a fine aspect
of our earlier route. Carling Gill Spout can just be seen.

Across the valley is Uldale Head.

Rounding Blake Ridge

Last of the light on the fells.

The team on Linghaw

Sunset from Linghaw and the Lune valley.

Supper on the fell at 9pm.

The sun though a gap in the clouds.

A pastel coloured Scafell range away to the west.

After supper it was a simple descent off the fell back
to the car at Carling Gill Beck bridge. And we still have time for a pint
on the way home in Tebay.
