A fine sunrise over Knipe Scar. Not a bad view first
thing from the B&B.

Parking at the new church above Howtown we then headed
up the slopes of Steel Knotts.

Ullswater and Howtown from the ascent.

The route comes up the side of this small rock gully.

Hallin fell behind.

Steel Knotts summit requires a bit of hand work.

Bailey has to get a look in in the summit pose.

Onwards to Fusedale Head.

Crossing the wall and a view back to Steel Knotts.

A combination of light drizzle and low cloud as we cross
the moor.

Ruins in Fusedale.

From the ruins back to Steel Knotts.

The hint of a rainbow as we ascend the path to Wether
Hill.

"Goo" on the fell. There is some debate as to what this
actually is and actually features in newspaper articles.

Ascending the "groove".

Nearly at the ridge.

Once on the ridge, the route of the old Roman Road, we
head left towards the summit.

Wether Hill summit with our next fell, Loadpot Hill
beyond.

The ruins of Lowther House.

About the only spot on this route for a bit of shelter.
Even though the drizzle had stopped there was a brisk wind.

Loadpot Hill summit, a trig column with its own moat
today.

Low cloud on Loadpot Hill.

A drop of a few hundred feet brought us down below the
cloud to Dodd Gill. There is little, if any, hint of a path on this route.

This was near the point where I needed to be for my
reference and I was lucky with the weather.

Looking back up to our route of descent.

Slate bridge in Fusedale which we crossed to head
towards Howtown.
Mellguards from the path which takes us round the bottom
of Steel Knotts north ridge.

Following the good path back towards Martindale

Lanty's Tarn, close to the church and the start point.
That was an interesting route which takes in three fells
but without much difficulty. In low cloud care is needed in navigating
down to Dodd Gill.
