After parking at Maggie's Bridge we passed through High
Nook Farm en route to Gavel Fell.

Gaining height the view behind us of the Loweswater
Fells.

Summer greens, afternoon sun on the flank of Hen Comb.

Attentive dog, no bounding "off path" at this time due
to the nesting birds but she can still smell them.

Fixed stare.

Who me??

Up and over Black Crag.

The subsidiary summit cairn on Gavel Fell. The Grasmoor
group behind.

And then on to here, the summit of Gavel Fell. Behind
lies Blake Fell to the left and Carling Knott on the right.

The fence as we head to Blake Fell. "get over, but
mind your reproductive organs if wanted for future use." (A.W. Gavel Fell

Knock Murton and Cogra Moss from Blake Fell summit. from
here we headed to the interesting looking top of Carling Knott.

The main cairn in Carling Knott with Blake Fell behind.
Surprisingly A.W. hardly mentions this interesting ground and it selection
of cairns and mounds.

Zooming in on a distant pillar from the cairn.

A fine place to dine. Asparagus, Tuna and potato salad
went down very well. from here it was a simple stroll across to the summit
of Burnbank Fell.

A small cairn now joined the old fence post which
Wainwright featured.

Loweswater from our descent route off the north east
ridge.

Warm evening light on the cairn.

An easy stroll now along the terrace above Holme Wood.

Gavel Fell from the terrace path.

The sun drops below the horizon as we return to the car
followed by a pleasant drink at the Kirkstile Inn. A great couple of hours
on the fells and we had them all to ourselves.
