Mosedale House under the
slopes of Carrock Fell.

After parking at Mosedale
I headed up the through the thick bracken. Great Mell Fell behind us.

Heather and sunshine.

A neat cairn marks the
path.

Remains of the ancient
fort that surrounds the fells summit.

High Pike and our route
ahead from the gate in the walls of the fort.

That pleading look.

That happy look.

Blencathra group from
Miton Hill.

Instead of taking the
direct route to High Pike we had to descend the Red Gate path to get a
couple of references.

An old mine level in Driggith Mine.

Remnants of an industry,
Driggith Mine. from here it was up to High Pike summit.

Room for one.

A bit of "gundog work"
near Lingy Hut. Ideal environment but no sign of grouse. From here I took
the path up to the slopes of Combe Height.

Combe Height cairn.

For more references I
descended the slopes of Combe height in the direction of Blencathra.

(Apologies for the poor
photo but the light was really quite low.) This view was near to one which
I have been seeking for ages. It meant a knee deep river crossing-twice-
and getting eaten alive by swarms of midges but well worth the effort.

Last of the light hits
the summit of Carrock Fell as I follow the river Caldew.

The sun sinks beyond the
Lingy Hut on the high horizon as I return to the car on the Mosedale road.
Another productive walk
completed in my challenge. |
