7th September 2008 A Sedbergh Round.

A mixed forecast as we decided to take on a couple of the Howgill Fells from a start point at Sedbergh. We planned to do a route that would keep us below the cloud base and that meant walking the tops of Crook, Sickers Fell and Knott.

From the central car park in the town we headed up towards Hill Farm, the slopes of Crook ahead.

Settlebeck Gill.

Gaining height on the path that would lead on to Arant Haw and The Calf.

Low cloud creeps in over Winder, sunshine beyond.

An easy route takes us to the summit of Crook and it's large cairn. Zeta has a daft 5 minutes.

Sunlight in Garsdale.

A hollow stone at the head of Ashbeck Gill as we walk towards Sickers Fell.

Sickers Fell summit looking towards Crook and Winder.

As the rain comes we head to the grassy mound of Knott.

Rain soaked cairn on Knott.

Descending by Ashbeck Gill.

The rain has eased as we reach the kissing gate a Settlebeck Gill with Sedbergh below.

Shining slates on the roof of the outbuildings at Hill Farm before we return to the start.
