9th November 2009 High Rigg

As I headed down towards Penrith I could see the low lying mists in the valley so I headed to St. Johns in the Vale to see if we could get a walk in to get above the mist.

The lane to St John's church.

Frosted wall.

From the slopes of the fell we were now above the mist.

Skiddaw and Lonscale Fell.

Autumn colours and mists.

Blencathra across the vale.

Clough Head.

Morning sun on a farmstead.

From the summit Thirlmere lies under a blanket of mist.

The hills to the north west.

Blencathra and the summit cairn.

Mist hangs in the valley.

The fell hound.

Caught in the sun.

The sun burning off the mists...

....and the frost.

Silver Birch clings to the fell side.

From here I returned to Rheged. A joy to be out on the hill even on such a short walk in conditions like these.
