7th May 2009. Bluebells in Flatts Wood.

A short walk through the area known as Flatts Wood which is adjacent to the town. The woods run alongside the tees and make an interesting walk at any time of the year but even more so now when the Bluebells are in flower.

Early morning Bluebells in Flatts Wood.

Percy beck which runs down into the Tees.

Woodland walk.

Ramsons (Wild Garlic) in profusion.

Sunlit Glade.

A bank of Greater Stitchwort.

The woodland edge.

Oak trees bursting into life.

The old railway viaduct. With the Tees far below the crossing of this gap in a train on the now long gone bridge must have been quite hairy. There are plans to put a rope bridge across this gap.

Bluebells and Red Campion.

Parish Boundary markers.

A quiet spot. This area was where the old Roman Road crossed the Tees via a ford, now a sitting area.

A a short walk then leads up past the castle walls and back into the town centre.
