26th May 2008 Cronkley Fell.

Late May Is perhaps one of the best times of the year to visit this area of the dale. A variety of birdlife and wildflowers, some very rare add to the splendid landscape. This walk starts at the small church by the road side near Forest-in-Teesdale.

A carpet of Birdseye Primrose. Within a protected enclosure to prevent grazing by sheep etc.

 

The Spring Gentian found only here in Teesdale and on the West of Ireland. Also in protected areas.

 

The river Tees and the remote Widdy Bank Farm from our route back to the start.
