7th July 2008- Sleightholme Beck.

Following a few days of heavy rain I decided to re-visit Sleightholme Beck. I guessed that after such rain the waters would be impressive in the gorge know as The Trough. Earlier in the year the beck had made national news when the cold weather formed long icicles (click here)

The road to the moor.

A rather full Sleightholme Beck with the remote Trough Heads Farm on the skyline.

The peat gives the water a rich colour.

The water thunders between the limestone walls of the ravine.

Dark skies over Trough Heads.

Sleightholme beck at the scene of the icicles back in February.

A wet Hare. From here it went through the grass and then swam a flooded stream, something I had never seen before.

Hillside springs which are usually just a trickle were now gushing down the slopes.

Not quite High Force but still dramatic.
