All images are the copyright of the artist. To obtain these references has required 4 days of walking: 6/3/09, 25/9/09, 14/6/09, 11/12/09 (click on the dates to see the photos) Catstycam 2917'
Catstycam
Helvellyn and Swirral Edge. 25/9/09 A fine view back to Helvellyn from just near the summit.
The water-cut. 11/12/09 The wooden water-cut has now all but gone from the face of the crag. With dilegent searching some of the remains can be found buried in the grass.
Catstycam summit. 11/12/09 The soil around the small summit cairn is now eroded so that more of the bedrock is exposed.
Keppelcove Tarn. 11/12/09 The burst banks of the tarn.
The Breached Dam. 11/12/09 This sketch shows the breach of the dam as it was in December 09. AW's drawing has a slight amount of artistic license.
The North-west Ridge 14/6/09 To get this view from White Side you have to descend quite a distance on the east flank of the fell as the beck from Brown Cove will not be in view. It was a sunny evening when I obtained this reference making the slopes of Catstycam a little uninteresting.
Striding Edge and Red Tarn. 11/12/09 The length of Stiding edge can be seen in full from this viewpoint.
Ullswater from the summit. 11/12/09 11/12/09 The summit cairn in the foreground with a view right to the Pennine Fells.
Raise. 11/12/09 The outline of the drained Keppelcove tarn can still be made out from here and Blencathra can just be seen behind Raise summit.
