Gallery Home >Wainwrights in Colour >Book 2 (Far Eastern) > Hallin Fell Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour. The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch. All images are the copyright of the artist. To obtain these references has required 3 days of walking: 30/1/07, 13/3/09, 21/4/09 (click on the dates to see the photos) Hallin Fell 1271'
Hallin Fell from Mellguards. AW slightly over emphasised the statue of Hallin Fell in his drawing, consequently there is more sky space in my view.
The Summit. 21/4/09 Despite having been reduced in stature by over a foot this is still and impressive cairn, seen here as the evening sun lights its western face.
Lower reach of Ullswater from the north cairn. 13/3/09 A fine view up the lake from this less visited point. Fell Complete
