Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour.

The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch.

All images are the copyright of the artist.

Hartsop Above How                                                    1870'

Hartsop Above How 1

From Hunsett Cove. 25/11/08

An early winter's morning and the view out of Hunsett Cove with the golden light on the slopes of the fell. Hartsop Above How is really just a rise on the ridge which means it is one of the least dramatic of all the fells.

Hartsop Above How Dovedale Slabs

Dovedale Slabs. 6/3/11

Seen from a position on the fellside in Dovedale and not from the path itself. The holly tree clings to the rocks and the Rowan tree behind nearly obscures the crag.

Hartsop Above How summit

The summit. 12/4/10

Even now the cairn free summit mound has little interest. Fortunately I have been able to include the rising ridge behind and the distant Hart Crag.

Fell complete.
