Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour.

The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch.

All images are the copyright of the artist.

High Raise                                                     2500'

High Raise from Great Crag

From Great Crag. 7/3/10

An awkward painting as I was looking directly towards the sun for this reference but the snow cover top of a distant High Raise added to the scene. Eagle Crag and Sergeant Man are in the mid-distance.

High Raise Bright Beck

Bright Beck. 28/4/11

Bright Beck can be used as a route of ascent from Stickle Tarn, this section is at the very top of the channel.

High Raise Summit

The Summit. 2/6/09

The summit cairn has been reformed into a shelter. Behind are the distant Coniston Fells and the distinct mound of Pike o'Stickle.

High Raise Long Crag

Long Crag. 24/6/09

On the route from Sergeant's Crag there is this view of the crag. The rocks in the near foreground make a welcome rest point.

 Fell Complete.
