Gallery Home >Wainwrights in Colour >Book 2 (Far Eastern) > Kidsty Pike Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour. The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch. All images are the copyright of the artist. To obtain these references has required 1 day of walking: 24/6/08 (click on the dates to see the photos) Kidsty Pike 2560'
Kidsty Pike 24/6/08 Even though A.W. has this titled "from Twopenny Crag", the actual location is from near the signpost marked in Rampsgill Head 4. I spent a fair amount of time on Twopenny crag trying to locate the foreground rocks but to no avail, eventually coming across them to the north.
The Summit Crags 24/6/08 Unchanged since A.W's day, Selside Pike in the distance.
The Summit 24/6/08 There has grown a larger cairn, more to the left than when A.W. observed the same view.
High Street 24/6/08 The view to High Street from near the summit rocks.
Selside Pike and Haweswater. 24/6/08 A.W. exaggerated the top of Selside Pike where as I have made it more realistic in shape. This Fell is now complete. back to Book 2 | back to Wainwright main page | back to gallery home page
