Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour.

The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch.

All images are the copyright of the artist.

To obtain these references has so far required 2 days of walking:, 25/11/07, 29/5/11 (click on the dates to see the photos)

Lingmoor Fell                                           1530'

Lingmoor Fell

From Elterwater. 10/6/11

I was pleasantly surprised to find that these two tree were still in place framing the fell across the water. I did however have to use some artistic license to remove stray foliage so that the fell could still be easily seen.

Lingmoor Fell Oak How Needle

Oak How Needle. 29/5/11

Situated on Oak How Crag the needle overlooks Great Langdale.

Lingmoor Fell tarn

Lingmoor Tarn. 24/11/07

Set amongst the heather this is a lovely tarn. This view is looking back to the summit of the fell.

Lingmoor Fell Side Pike

Side Pike. 25/11/07

Included here is the summit of Bowfell and Crinkle Crags to the left and the Langdale Pikes to the right.

Lingmoor Fell Langdale Pikes

Langdale Pikes. 24/11/07

This is a fine viewpoint from Side Pike to the Langdale Pike group across the valley. The small cairn has since disappeared from the foreground rock platform.

Lingmoor fell summit

The summit. 24/11/07

With a excellent view over the Coniston Fells the summit cairn sits on a rocky mound.

Lingmoor Fell Bowfell

Bowfell. 24/11/07

The ridge known as The Band leads up towards the peak of Bowfell, seen here from the western slope of Side Pike.

Fell complete.
