Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour.

The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch.

All images are the copyright of the artist.

To obtain these references has required 2 days of walking: 23/09/08, 24/10/08a,  (click on the dates to see the photos) The view of Kettle Crag was obtained one day as I drove over the pass near Blea Tarn.

Pike o' Blisco needle

The Needle, Black Crag. 24/10/08

An impressive rock pinnacle that remains perched on Black Crag.

Pike o'Blisco summit

The Summit. 24/10/08

Impressive as it is, this cairn is a shadow of its former self with some of the rocks being re-used to form the basis of a wind shelter just off to the left.

Fell complete.
