To obtain these references has so far required 3 days of walking: 31/3/09 ,10/4/11 11/7/11(click on the dates to see the photos) Scafell 3162'
From Cam Spout. 12/7/11 The peak of Scafell is not quite as pronounced in reality compared to AW's drawing but it is still a fine mountain scene.
Broad Stand. 10/4/11 The top lighting here helps to show the rock formation of this outcrop.
Broad Stand and Mickledore. 10/4/11 A fine view of the col of Mickledore.
Lord's Rake. 12/7/11 The rake is still a scree challenge for walkers whether in ascent or descent. Added to that is the Chockstone at the very top of this, the first section which fell into its precarious current location a few years ago. How long it remains there for is anyone's guess.
The head of Deep Gill. 12/7/11 As in AW's drawing I have included myself in the scene but instead of holding a cigarette I have in my hand the Pictorial Guide. In the intervening years a large chunk of rock has detached from the top of the left hand crag making the opening at the top wider. Lingmell and Great Gable are in the distance.
Lord's Rake. 31/3/09 Looking down onto Lord's Rake there are a couple of last patches of winter snow near the col. The top of Scafell Pike could just be seen through the lifting cloud.
The summit. 12/7/11 On my previous visit cloud obscured the top of Deep Gill Buttress behind the summit platform.
Fell Complete.
