Andy Beck- The Wainwrights in colour. Gallery Home >Wainwrights in Colour >Book 7 (Western) > Seatallan The sketches shown here are the images that I have so far produced for this "Wainwright". The views are taken from the exact spot where A.W. stood to illustrate his seven pictorial guides. The comparative views are mainly different due to the time of day, weather conditions and seasonal differences. The originals of my sketches are approximately twice as wide and twice as high as A.W's pen and ink drawings. I have added notes to give more information to each sketch. All images are the copyright of the artist. To obtain these references has required 2 days of walking: 10/11/08, 9/9/09 (click on the dates to see the photos) Seatallan 2266'
Seatallan from below Scoat Tarn. 9/9/09 Late evening sun on the side of the hill from the cascades if water issuing from Scoat Tarn.
Cairn on Cat Bields. 11/11/08 A wet day with Great Gable just in view in the distance.
The summit. 8/11/08 This large tumulus is now more rounded than in AW's drawing but this shape probably changes from year to year as various walkers add or remove stones. Pleanty to choose from though.
Seatallan, the view. 8/11/08 I don't usually paint the views in Wainwright's chapters but this aspect of the Scafells and the trig point justified inclusion on this fell. Fell complete
