Andy Beck - On Location

Route details and photographs of areas where Andy has been walking, sketching and gathering references for future work.

6th June 2008 Upper Swaledale

In February I did this walk but in the different direction. Today I came back to see the meadow fields of Muker in all their glory. I was fortunate to catch a bit of sun at the start as it came in to lightly rain later.

The village of Muker.

A back lane barn.

The haymeadows filling with colour.

If anything I was a week early, the Meadow Cranesbill flowers were only just blooming.

The route ahead follows the track before heading up the right hand side of the ravine of Swinnergill.

Looking back as I gained height.

Primroses still on full bloom.

Swinnergill gorge.

The dry river bed in Swinnergill.

Remnants of the lead mining days.

The Swale below. The gate on the right is on the Coast to Coast path.

Despite it being early June the bluebells were still in full flower.

The barn above Crackpot Hall.

Keld village.

A walkers crossroads, the "public bridleway" signs are actually the Coast to Coast route.

Admiring the view on the way back to Muker.

Looking down on the river and our earlier route.

Muker lies ahead.

Back in Muker village.

A last view of Swaledale as I head home.
