The start point at Roehead, near Pooley Bridge. Arthur's
Pike in the distance.

A boundary stone on Moor Divock looking towards the
distant Blencathra. This is the point where I actually joined High Street
and headed south.

There are many tumuli and stone circles on Moor Divock, this one has a
definite burial chamber. |

Ullswater from the beacon.

Swarthbeck Gill and the Mell Fells.

Hallin Fell and beyond from Bonscale Pike.

The view from Bonscale Pike gives a great aspect of
Helvellyn.

I cut across the moor from Bonscale Pike to get back on
to the High Street.

After crossing the summit of Loadpot Hill I was now
passing the remains of Lowther House. the path ahead leads to Wether Hill
and High Raise.

The main path across the summit of Wether Hill now
passes to the west of the cairn. This photo shows the path that A.W.
indicated in his book, now hardly used.

Crossing Red Crag looking west to the Helvellyn range.

Approaching High Raise Great Gable shows behind Rest
Dodd.

A view back to the route so far and the head of
Ullswater.

From High Raise summit Great Gable is neatly framed in
Deepdale Hause.

High Raise summit cairn and shelter with High Street in
the distance.

Rampsgill Head from the descent off High Raise.

A short diversion took me to the top of Kidsty Pike and
a view of High Street's Riggindale face.

Martindale from Rampsgill's crags.

After Rampsgill I headed west to take in The Knott
before taking the route to High Street.

A look back to Kidsty Pike from Twopenny Crag. |

Crossing the flat plateau of High Street I was going to
take in Mardale Ill Bell but time was against me so I headed direct to
Thornthwaite Crag where I got this shot of Windermere en-route.

The distinctive Thornthwaite beacon.

Kentmere reservoir, Froswick and Ill Bell. I headed from
here down into the Troutbeck valley off to the right.

Known as Scot Rake this path is a continuation of High
Street. My route would take me up and over Troutbeck Tongue the hump of
ground in the centre.

The double shelter cairn lies fairly undisturbed on the
Tongue. Wansfell up to the left.

and finally ending up at The Mortal Man in Troutbeck.
