25th July 2008- Fremington Edge

A short walk in Swaledale that takes in a short part of the Coast to Coast route. Beginning at Reeth I followed the route to Marrick via the Priory before heading along Fremington Edge. From there I dropped back down into the dale.

A hazy view to Marrick Abbey over the Swale.

Summer skies over Harkerside.

Looking back to the abbey en-route to Marrick.

The cool and shady Marrick Steps.

A splash of colour.

The former White Horse Inn- illustrated by Wainwright in the Coast to Coast book. (before restoration).

On leaving Marrick the minor road takes me up on to Fremington edge. The track can be seen in the heather.

On the trail of the lonesome pine.

The route follows the wall along the Edge.
