Stony Keld farm where we started this walk

Signing the Pennine Way. We were to head left.

Passing Levy Pool House. Wainwright in his Pennine Way
Companion mentions this house and I suppose doesn't expect it to still be
a dwelling. The main house is roofed with the traditional heather thatch,
not often seen these days. The buildings on the left were completed in the
same way but unfortunately ruined in a fire in the past couple of years.
Restoration work in on-going.

Crossing the bridge over Deepdale Beck

A look back as we head higher on to the moor.

The view to the south.

The harsh reality of a hard winter on this bleak moor.

The "Toberlone" stone. (not really it's name but it
would be a good one!)

Once on the ridge we followed the track to the west.
Along this stretch we saw a good number of Golden Plover who have returned
to the moor to breed.

Swaledales on the moor.

After a mile or so we reached the wall where we then
turned left after passing through the gate.

A distant Shacklesborough a rocky platform in the
middle of the moor.

Following the wall south.

The bridge back across Deepdale Beck.

Information sign as we are now back on the Pennine
Way.

This is then new shooting hut which is there to provide
cover for shooting parties is also a shelter for walkers.

In the only period of brightness bailey decides to
"stike a pose". Really he is just fascinated by theb Red grouse which are
calling glose by.

There is a good track to follow back towards Stony
Keld.

And soon we are back at our start point after our walk
over some bleak but interesting moorland.
